If you’re a YouTube creator (or planning to be one), there are new rules you need to know starting July 15, 2025. These updates are important for anyone who wants to monetize their content or go live on YouTube.

Don’t worry—it’s not complicated. Here’s everything you need to know, in plain English:

🎯 What Changed in July 2025?
1. YouTube is cracking down on “inauthentic content”

YouTube updated its monetization policy to stop people from earning money through low-effort or repetitive videos.

Before, they called this “repetitious content.” Now, it’s called “inauthentic content.”

What does that mean?

If your videos look like:

  • Copy-paste style content with little or no editing,

  • Slideshows with voiceovers that are all the same,

  • AI-generated videos without any human touch or creativity,

  • Stock footage reused again and again with minor changes…

…then YouTube won’t let you earn money from them anymore.

2. AI is NOT banned—but it must be used creatively

You can still use AI tools like voice generators, image creators, or video editors—as long as your content is original and meaningful.

✔️ Allowed:

  • Using AI to help with scripting

  • Editing with AI tools

  • Adding your own voice or unique ideas

❌ Not allowed:

  • Making auto-generated videos with no personal touch

  • Uploading the same style of video 50 times with minor edits

3. Minimum Age for Livestreaming Has Increased

Starting July 22, 2025, YouTube is changing the age requirement for going live:

  • 🔞 You must be at least 16 years old to livestream on your own.

  • 👨‍👩‍👧 Creators aged 13–15 can livestream only with an adult supervising their channel.

This is to protect younger users and create a safer space for live content.

💡 What Should Creators Do Now?

Here’s how you can stay safe and successful on YouTube:

Be original – Don’t just copy-paste from other videos or rely completely on AI.

Add value – Include your own thoughts, edits, commentary, or style.

Check your content before uploading – If it looks like something a machine could make in 5 minutes, improve it!

Use AI smartly – Let it help you, not replace you.

Follow age rules – If you’re under 16, livestream only with a responsible adult’s help.

🏁 Final Words

YouTube is rewarding real creators and pushing back on spammy or robotic content. These new rules are not scary—they’re a great chance for you to grow if you’re passionate and creative.

If you keep making good content, these rules will actually help you stand out even more.
